People of Canada, we are Cananon. As opposed to what you may have seen about Anonymous in the media, we are not hackers. We are people from all walks of life; lawyers, doctors, students, slackers. What we all agree on is the need to defend our freedoms as Canadians and as responsible global citizens.
In its campaign, Cananon is distributing cards in strategic locations across Canada, If you find our card, it was meant for YOU! (That's YouFoundOurCard.com if you missed the call, have bad eyesight or were home with the flu.)
The CanAnon website hooks you up with our bi-lingual IRC channel where we keep each other informed and entertained through discussion of critical developments that affect our freedom of speech and other basic human rights. But Anonymous doesn't stop with talk. We respond to threats to our privacy and attacks on our fellows both on-the-ground and online.
Anonymous is best known for its long-running campaign to shed light on the dangerous Church of Scientology cult. Some Anons have gained notoriety for hacking websites of oppressive governments. But that's not why Cananon is throwing its doors open to aware and informed Canadians. We have a lot of work to do to stop the propagation of bad legislation such as Bill 78, Bill C11, Bill C-30 and secret treaties like ACTA which were negotiated in secret by entities who care only about their own interests and not your own, and we need your help to put up a powerful citizen presence both online and in the streets. Newcomers are always welcome.
